Apple Set to Unveil iPhone 16 : Apple’s most anticipated event of the year is set for Monday, where the company will debut its latest iPhones and showcase a new artificial intelligence (AI) platform. The event will take place at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, on September 9, starting at 10 a.m. local time.
It’s uncommon for Apple to hold its main event on a Monday, but the earlier date allows the company to stay ahead of a busy Tuesday, which will see a U.S. presidential debate and a European Commission ruling on whether Apple owes $14 billion in taxes due to its long-standing agreement with Ireland.
The headline of the event will be the introduction of the **iPhone 16 series**, but Apple is also expected to unveil major updates to the Apple Watch and AirPods
Apple Intelligence, a new suite of AI tools featuring an upgraded Siri assistant, will also be a major focal point. The event’s theme, “It’s Glow time,” hints at the fresh look and feel of Siri’s revamped interface.
Stakes High for Apple’s AI Push
Apple is under pressure to demonstrate its capabilities in the generative artificial intelligence space, as the company seeks to prove its relevance to both consumers and Wall Street. However, Apple’s AI developments are still a work in progress. The rollout of Apple Intelligence has faced several delays, with many key features not expected to launch until next year.
For now, Apple’s AI tools are focused on summarizing messages and notifications, rather than delivering the highly interactive experiences seen in competing platforms. Even so, Monday’s updates will inject new energy into core Apple products, which account for around 60% of the company’s annual revenue.
These devices also drive consumer spending on Apple’s growing suite of services, an increasingly critical revenue stream. Apple’s financials could benefit greatly from this boost, as the company has only just begun to recover from its longest sales slump in decades.

iPhone 16 Series
As in previous years, Apple will introduce four new iPhone models : iPhone 16 (Apple Set to Unveil iPhone 16), iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Like last year, the changes to the non-Pro versions will be modest, with the **iPhone 16** and **16 Plus** retaining 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens and aluminum frames similar to those seen in the 2023 models.
AirPods
Apple is also preparing to release two new AirPods models, replacing the current second-generation entry-level version and third-generation mid-tier version. Both new models will resemble the AirPods Pro and feature a redesigned case, USB-C charging, and enhanced sound quality. The mid-tier model will stand out with a more advanced case featuring a built-in speaker for easy tracking via Apple’s Find My app, along with noise-canceling capabilities similar to the AirPods Pro.
Apple Watch
For the first time in two years, Apple will update its entire Apple Watch lineup in one go. This includes a new entry-level Apple Watch SE, a mid-tier Series 10, and an upgraded Ultra 3. The Apple Watch Ultra will see only minor internal improvements, while the Series 10 will mark the most significant changes, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch, which was originally launched in 2014.
